The women’s and men’s golf teams traveled to separate tournaments Sept. 29-30. The women attended the Butler Fall Invitational in Indianapolis, hosted by Butler University, while the men attended the Virtues Intercollegiate hosted by Bowling Green State University in Nashport, Ohio.
Women’s Golf:
The women’s team finished the 54-hole tournament fifth out of 14 teams with a total of 899 (298-296-305) strokes.
In first place was Marian University Indianapolis with a score of 869 (291-280-298). Individually, ending in a tie for the top spot with 211 strokes were University of Dayton’s Kylee Heidemann (69-66-76) and University of Akron’s fourth-year Maisarah Hezri (69-72-70).
For the Ramblers, third-year Cassie Psuik ended in a tie for 13th with a score of 221 (73-73-75) strokes. Psuik ended her final round with five bogeys and two birdies to give her a round score of 75.
First-year Teagan Connors ended the tournament in a tie for 18th with a stroke total of 223 (76-74-73). Her four bogeys in her second round led to her four-over-par round.
First-year Reese Kite totaled 229 (73-76-80) and landed in a tie for 35th. Kite totaled her lowest score with a 73 in the first round after five bogeys and two birdies.
One stroke behind Kite, third-year Grace Durkin competed individually and finished with a tie for 44th and a score of 230 (77-73-80). A total of 11 bogeys added to Durkin’s high score in her final round total of 80.
Second-year Madison Haugen tied for 60th with a score of 233 (82-73-79). Haugen recorded four double-bogeys throughout the tournament, which added to her 23-over-par finish.
Lastly for the Ramblers and one stroke behind Haugen, second-year Grace Hui finished with a total of 234 (82-73-79) strokes and tied for 63rd. Hui’s lowest-scoring second round total of 73 consisted of two bogeys, one double-bogey and one birdie.
The Ramblers head to Portage, Mich. for the Western Michigan Bronco Fall Classic hosted by Western Michigan University Oct. 6-7.
Men’s Golf:
The men’s team finished the Virtues Intercollegiate tournament in third out of 14 teams with a score of 861 (288-285-288) at three-under par.
In the top spot, the University of Notre Dame scored 13 under par with a total of 843 (278-279-286). Fighting Irish first-year Pavel Tsar finished in first place with a score of 203 (66-66-71).
For the Ramblers, fourth-year Charlie Kulwin finished five under par with a score of 211 (72-71-68) strokes and in a tie for fifth. Kulwin’s 14 birdies tied for the third-most scored in the tournament.
Two strokes behind Kulwin, fourth-year Zach Mulhearn landed in a tie for ninth, going three-under par with 213 (69-73-71) strokes. An eagle on the 10th hole in his second round helped lead to his one-over par total.
Fourth-year Sebastian Kasun ended with a 219 (77-68-74) and in a tie for 18th. Kasun also scored an eagle on the fourth hole in his first round to contribute to his five-over par round.
Fourth-year Dori Lee scored a 224 (76-73-75) total for a tie in 36th. A total of five bogeys and two birdies led to a three-over-par third round.
Lastly — and one stroke behind Lee — third-year Jackson Overton rounded out the tournament with a score of 225 (71-78-76) and in a tie for 40th. In Overton’s first round, he scored an eagle on the 10th hole to finish with a round total of one under par.
The men travel to West Lafayette, Ind., for the Boilermaker Invitational Oct. 13-14, hosted by Purdue University.
