As of Nov. 1 participants of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program SNAP have lost partial benefits due to the government shutdown which began Oct. 1. What’s happening with the government shutdown and how is it affecting SNAP benefits right now? Nearly 1.9 million Illinois residents rely on SNAP, how are they affected by the loss of benefits? What does the SNAP gap look like and how are food banks trying to fill it?
