Rubin sank a layup before two Johnson 3-pointers were met by a 3-pointer from Houinsou. A layup by Houinsou and another Ola-Joseph three helped to shrink the scoring gap, but the Ramblers still trailed 41-22.
George Washington went on a six-point scoring streak with a successful trip to the line for Castro, a layup by Jones and another line trip for Aranguren —who sank both free throws. A foul on Castro sent Ola-Joseph to the line for two points, shrinking the 61-48 George Washington lead.
A minute-and-a-half scoring drought was sandwiched between a three from Jones and a layup from Johnson. A Rubin jumper and a 3-pointer by third-year guard Deywilk Tavarez started a Loyola streak, but Hunger netted a layup to keep the momentum with the Revolutionaries.
Two minutes later, a foul on redshirt first-year forward Brayden Young put Castro at the line for two more George Washington points, and a 3-pointer by Dinkins put the Revolutionaries up 73-53.
Ola-Joseph netted a layup and another minute of scoreless play was broken by a Castro dunk. Rubin retaliated with a dunk of his own, and Autry responded with a 3-pointer. No offensive play was finished in the next minute, but Glazkov broke the lull with a dunk off a rebound by Reese, shortening George Washington’s lead to 78-59.
Johnson responded with a 3-pointer, and Ola-Joseph took it down the court with a three of his own. Autry’s next layup was followed with field goals from Jones and Dinkins before another minute of no baskets for either team.
