Kasun Finds Top-10 Finish in Loyola Men’s Golf Spring Opener

Fourth-year Sebastian Kasun secured a top-10 finish in men’s golf’s first spring invitational.

The Loyola men’s golf team drove into their spring season by attending the Lake Jovita Invitational hosted by Ball State University in Dade City, Fla. Feb. 9-10. The Ramblers finished the 54-hole tournament in seventh out of 14 teams with a total of 861 strokes (291-286-284). 

Xavier University was awarded the top spot with a score of 846 strokes (283-284-279). On the player leaderboard, fourth-year Shane Ochs from Wright State University claimed first place with a total of 203 strokes (70-67-66). 

For the Ramblers, fourth-year Sebastian Kasun landed in a tie for seventh with a score of 209 strokes (72-69-68). An eagle, five birdies and three bogeys in his final round left him four-under par with a total of 68 strokes. 

Fourth-year Dori Lee recorded 214 strokes (70-72-72) for a tie for 18th place. Totaling five birdies and three bogeys in his first round left Lee with a round score of 70 for two-under par. 

Fourth-year Charlie Kulwin finished the tournament in a tie for 48th with a score of 221 strokes (72-78-71). In his final round, he recorded four birdies and three bogeys for a one-under par total. 

Fourth-year Zach Mulhearn finished in a tie for 59th place with a total of 223 strokes (77-73-73). Three birdies and an eagle balanced out his six bogeys, leaving his second round total to one-over par, or 73 strokes. 

One stroke behind Mulhearn and playing as an individual, second-year Connor Woodin tallied a total of 224 (75-73-76) for a tie of 66th place. Woodin recorded his lowest-scoring round in a one-over par second round with three birdies and four bogeys. 

Third-year Jackson Overton recorded a total of 225 strokes (78-72-75) landing in a tie for 71st place. In his second round, Overton scored an even-par round with three birdies and three bogeys. 

The Rambler continue their spring season heading to New Orleans, La. for the Gulf Coast Collegiate hosted by University of New Orleans Feb. 23-24.
