The Loyola women’s golf team teed off their spring season in New Braunfels, Texas for the Texas State Invitational hosted by Texas State University Feb. 2-3. The Ramblers completed the 54-hole tournament in 12th out of 15 teams with a total of 936 strokes (307-308-321).
Taking the top spot was Texas State with a total of 846 (294-276-276). On the top of the player leaderboard was Tarleton State University third-year Louise Depadt with a score of 205 (70-64-71).
For the Ramblers, third-year Cassie Psuik led with a score of 229 (75-73-81) and a tie for 34th. A total of two bogeys and a birdie gave her a one-over par second round score of 73.
First-year Maureen O’Leary finished the tournament in a tie for 50th with a total of 234 (76-80-78), marking a career-best. Three double bogeys, two bogeys and one birdie in her first round left her with a four-over par round.
Two strokes behind O’Leary, third-year Grace Durkin landed herself in a tie for 53rd with a score of 236 (77-76-83). Her second round score of four-over par marks her lowest of the tournament, recording one double bogey, two bogeys and a birdie.
Playing as an individual, first-year Teagan Connors also tied for 53rd place with a total of 236 (80-78-78). A tally of one double bogey, seven bogeys and three birdies gave Connors a tie for her best round in the tournament going six-over par.
One stroke behind Durkin and Connors, second-year Grace Hui tallied a score of 237 (79-79-79) and landed in a tie for 59th place. A total of seven bogeys in her final round left her seven-over par.
Individually, second-year Amelia Gatti recorded her career-best 54-hole tournament total with a score of 242 (77-83-82) and a tie for 68th place. Her tournament-best round consisted of five bogeys in her first round for a score of 77.
Second-year Madison Haugen recorded a score of 253 (87-80-86) and landed in 81st place. In her second round, she tallied three double bogeys, two bogeys and a birdie going eight-over par in her second round.
The Ramblers head next to the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational hosted by Western Michigan University in Rio Verde, Ariz. Feb 20-22.
