Happy Halloween! Get in the mood for spooky season with a fall or Halloween themed event like the New Belgium Pumpkin Carving Contest or a free haunted house at Pottawatomie Park. 

Not in the mood to be scared? Check out the Chicago Kurdish Film Festival or the Craft and Vendor Market outside Wrigley Field instead. 

Annual New Belgium Pumpkin Carving Contest: Oct. 30

Head over to Easy Bar, located at 1944 W. Division St., tonight at 7 p.m. to carve a free pumpkin — already scooped out — provided by New Belgium. Carving tools will be provided, and awards will be given out for the best, most creative and the ugliest pumpkin. Supplies will be available first come first serve. 

Attendees can help themselves to New Belgium beer sampling, Wednesday specials including $4 Malort shots and $6 hard seltzers, and seasonal cocktails including a Pumpkin Spice Margarita, Purple Drank and Pain Ke’iller.

Free Haunted House at Pottawatomie Park: Oct. 31

Meet at the Pottawatomie Park Fieldhouse at 7340 N. Rogers Ave. for a spooky, haunted house walk through. The haunted house is run by the Pottawatomie Park Advisory Council and will be open for Halloween fun from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The indoor event will also include sweet Halloween treats and candy and activities for attendees.

Chicago Kurdish Film Festival: Nov. 2-3

This festival, held by the Kurdish Cultural Center of Illinois at Loyola’s Damen Cinema, will feature films depicting the history, culture and artistic expression of the Kurdish people. Showings will begin Saturday at 11 a.m. and run until 10 p.m.. Sunday they will begin at 12 p.m. and run until 7:45 p.m..

The films intend to share the complex personal stories of the Kurdish people’s resistance, traditions and contemporary issues throughout Kurdistan and the diaspora. Feature films, narratives, documentaries and short films will be shown.

Pizza Summit: Nov. 3

Take advantage of unlimited pizza and five complimentary drinks by purchasing a ticket for the Chicago Pizza Summit, an annual event hosted at The Royal Palms Shuffleboard Club. 

The Nov. 3 event will begin at either 12 p.m. or 4 p.m. depending on your ticket timeslot. It will be hosted by 14 different pizza vendors, each bringing something unique to the table and featuring everything from thin-crust to deep dish.

Tickets are $65 and can be purchased on the Chicago Pizza Summit website.

Craft and Vendor Market: Nov. 3

This fall themed Craft and Vendor Market will be hosted in Gallagher Way Park at Wrigley Field from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 3. 

The market will feature everything from sweet treats to clothing from local Chicago vendors. Admission is free and reservations can be made at their website.
