A Loyola student was struck by a Chicago Transit Authority bus in the afternoon Feb. 10 at the intersection of North Winthrop Avenue and West Sheridan Road, which bisects the center of the university’s Lake Shore Campus.
This collision marks the second time a student has been hit by a CTA bus in the last week.
An 18-year-old female was hit at the crosswalk of the intersection of West Sheridan Road and North Kenmore Avenue Feb. 4 — just over a week ago, The Phoenix reported. The incidents occurred around 400 feet from each other.
Campus Safety responded to the scene and administered aid to the victim, Campus Safety Commander Tim Cunningham wrote in a statement to The Phoenix.
Cunningham said the student was transported to a nearby hospital by the Chicago Fire Department, but information concerning the status of her condition wasn’t made immediately clear.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing and being handled by the Chicago Police Department, according to Cunningham.
CPD was unable to provide any additional information to The Phoenix at the time of publication.
The student, who hasn’t been identified by Campus Safety, declined to comment.
The CTA didn’t respond to The Phoenix’s request for comment.
