Lawrence Lands in Loyola Record Books as Indoor Track Season Opens

The Ramblers take on two separate track invitationals.

Following a successful season for Loyola cross country, where both men’s and women’s teams took home Atlantic 10 (A10) championships, the 2025-26 indoor track season opened in a split invitation at the Cougar Alumni Open at Chicago State University Dec. 5 and the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener at Boston University Dec. 6. 

Cougar Alumni Open:

Opening the weekend in Chicago, Loyola sent one runner each to the men’s and women’s 600m race. Third-year James Howell finished fourth overall with a time of 1:21.32. On the women’s side, first-year Natalya Kuchenbuch podiumed with a third-place finish at 1:40.63.

The Ramblers sent four women in the mile, with second-year Lindsey Kiehl leading the pack in third with a time of 5:05.57. The final three finished consecutively with third-year Jo Collins, second-year Claire Blotnik and first-year Mackenzie Armstrong placing sixth, seventh and eighth. Collins timed in at 5:14.34, Blotnik set a personal record at 5:14.42 and Armstrong closed the race at 5:31.43.

The men’s team sent six runners for the 3000m while the women’s side sent one. Third-year Priscilla Ravera placed ninth as the sole runner, where she set a personal best with a time of 10:10.23

First-year Eugene Niox-Chateau led the way for Loyola with his time of 8:18.02, good for fourth overall. Second-year Dylan Ybarra and first-year Francesco Benelli finished consecutively in seventh and eighth with times of 8:23.29 and 8:24.62.

Fourth-year Colby Revord placed 10th, clocking in at 8:26.21 with third-year Trent Anderson tracking behind him in 13th at 8:48.65. Fourth-year Kyle Knutson ended the day in 16th with a time of 9:10.23.

Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener:

In Boston, Loyola began their day with graduate James Lawrence, who competed in the 5000m men’s invitational, an event where select racers are invited to compete. In comparison, other schools competing can enter the 5000m open. Lawrence broke Loyola’s program record with a time of 13:32.15, beating Ryan Martins record of 13:33.45. Lawrence’s performance earned him 16th overall.

The men’s 5000m open race was headlined by fourth-year Jake Phillips, who earned a personal-best with a time of 13:54.74, good for fourth-overall in the Rambler record books and 60th overall in the event. Graduate Hayden Healey earned the eighth spot in Loyola’s record books with a time of 14:05.12, earning 100th overall. Third-year Cael Mulholland earned the 10th spot on the record list at 14:08.07, finishing 132nd overall.

In the women’s 5K, all three Rambler runners set personal records, with third-year Eileen Seebon finishing 138th at 16:55.09. Graduate Ali Gilooly placed 141st at 16:55.60, and graduate Pippa Carcas placed 160th with her time of 17:16.94.

Loyola also competed in the 3000m, where they produced two more top-10 finishes in their record books. Graduate Jason Clayton earned fifth overall and second in Loyola history with his time of 7:54.17 — two seconds behind his teammate Lawrence, who set the record at the Meyo Invitational in 2025. 

Second-year Izak Bibile earned ninth in Rambler history and 33rd overall at 8:04.97. Third-year Nate Boutin rounded out the group in 46th, with his time of 8:08.41.

The women were led by graduate Roisin Treacy, who achieved a personal best on her way to finishing 13th at 9:17.49. Second-year Maggie Powers placed 76th with a time of 10:03.39.

Loyola takes the track next after a month-long holiday break, heading to the Hoosier Horsepower Classic in Indianapolis Jan. 16-17.
