Men’s Golf Falls Flat in Second Event of the Season

Loyola men’s golf traveled to Huntington, W.Va. to compete in the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational, hosted by Marshall University, Sept. 14-15. The Ramblers placed 10th out of 14 teams. 

The first round of play was solid for the team, shooting three under par. The second round saw a slight stumble with four-over-par, but the Ramblers failed in the third-round when they shot eight over par, landing with a score of 861 (281-288-292) over three rounds. 

Third-year Connor Woodin and individual competitor first-year Michael Washburne landed in a six-way tie for 21st place, both shooting one under par. Woodin shot a total of 212, going four-under-par in the second round. 

Washburne’s first and third round were on par, and he shot one under par the second round for a total score of 209. 

First-year Alex Lee came away from the event tied for 27th place, with an even score of 210 after four under par in the first round and two-over-par in the last two rounds. 

With a score of 216 (70-76-70), fourth-year Jackson Overton tied for 37th place. Way down the leaderboard, third-year Nathan Anderson tied for 73rd place with a score of 222 (72-74-76). 

At the bottom of the pack for the Ramblers was first-year Cole Beto, who tied for 80th place after shooting three over par in the first two rounds and five-over-par in the third round for a total score of 224.

The Ramblers continue their season by traveling to Muncie, Ind. for the Earl Yestingmeier Invitational hosted by Ball State University Sept. 26-27.
